Srinagar, Mar 15 (JKNS): The Indian Army on Sunday said that a Pakistani terrorist was killed after security forces foiled an infiltration attempt in the Uri sector of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district during the intervening night of March 14–15.
According to a post by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army on X, as per news agency JKNS, the operation codenamed OP DIGGI-2 was launched in the general area of Buchhar in Uri following specific intelligence inputs provided by the Jammu and Kashmir Police regarding a possible infiltration attempt.
The Army said alert troops noticed suspicious movement in a thicket and readjusted the ambush before challenging the suspect. The terrorist opened indiscriminate fire, triggering an encounter in which the infiltrator was killed.
Security forces recovered war-like stores from the slain militant, including an AK rifle, pistols and a large quantity of ammunition. The operation was continuing in the area when last reports came in, the Army said. (JKNS)
