Karnah, March 18: In a gesture of goodwill and community bonding during the holy month of Ramadan, units under the Shakti Vijay Brigade organised grand Iftar gatherings with local residents in the Karnah border area of Kupwara district.

Almost 3 to 4 regiments organised Iftar programmes at different locations including Chamkote, Tangdhar and Baghbella, where a large number of locals, including community elders, youth and Army personnel, came together to share the Iftar meal. The gatherings created an atmosphere of unity and brotherhood during the sacred month.

Yesterday, a special Iftar was also organised for ex-servicemen, where they were warmly hosted and Janamaz (prayer mats) were also distributed among them as a gesture of respect and appreciation.

Residents from several villages of Karnah participated in the programmes and appreciated the initiative. Locals said such events strengthen mutual trust and understanding between the Army and the local community while promoting harmony in the border region.

Army officials present on the occasion said the aim of organising these Iftar gatherings is to share the blessings of Ramadan with the local population and build stronger connections with people living in border areas. They also extended Ramadan greetings and wished peace, prosperity and stability for the region.

Such initiatives send a strong message of brotherhood and unity, especially in the Karnah border area, where people from the Pahari community came together, reflecting solidarity and mutual respect.

“These meaningful events help bring the Army and the people closer together,” an official said, expressing gratitude to the local community for their continued support and cooperation.

The programme concluded with prayers for peace, harmony and stability in the Karnah border area, highlighting unity and cooperation between the Army and local residents.
