Sopore, Mar 20 (JKNS): Zahoor Ahmad Bhat has resigned as Vice President of the Sopore Fruit Mandi Association with immediate effect, citing alleged corruption, lack of accountability and mismanagement within the body.
His resignation has been accepted by Association President Fayaz Ahmad Malik.
In a statement, Bhat alleged lack of accountability within the association, leading to misuse of power and corruption. He also claimed mismanagement of growers’ funds, resulting in financial losses, and neglect of workers’ interests, leaving them without proper support and representation.
He further pointed out issues related to transparency and functioning of the association, which, according to him, created an atmosphere of mistrust.
Bhat, who served five years as Chairman Affairs and three years as Vice President, said, “Association ke paas growers ki amanat ko khayanat kiya jata hai, jis ki wajah se maine VP se resign kiya hai.”
He said he has deferred his press conference due to the holy month of Ramazan and will address the media after March 25, 2026, to reveal further details.
Speaking to news agency JKNS over phone, Bhat said, “I have taken this decision after careful consideration and will share more details about my resignation in my upcoming media briefing.” (JKNS)
