New Delhi, Mar 25 (JKNS): The Curtain Raiser for North Tech Symposium 2026 was held on 25 March 2026 at Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, formally announcing the symposium scheduled to be conducted at Prayagraj from 04 to 06 May 2026, in coordination with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).

The Curtain Raiser brought together key stakeholders from the Indian Army, industry, start-ups, academia, DPSUs, paramilitary forces and the Ministry of Defence to outline the vision of the symposium and promote wider participation.

It was attended by Lt Gen Anindya Sengupta, GOC-in-C, Central Command, Lt Gen Pratik Sharma, GOC-in-C, Northern Command and Mr Neeraj Gupta, Vice President, SIDM, along with other senior officials.

North Tech Symposium 2026 is being organised jointly by Northern and Central Commands of the Indian Army. The initiative integrates operational perspectives from both Commands to better align technological development with field requirements.

The symposium is centred on the theme ‘Raksha Triveni Sangam – Where Technology, Industry and Soldiering Converge’ and aims to provide a collaborative platform for the Armed Forces, industry, innovators and academia to address operational challenges through technology-driven solutions.

The symposium will feature technology displays by industry partners based on the Compendium of Problem Definition Statements released during the Curtain Raiser, along with earlier Indian Army publications on technological challenges. Two thematic seminars – Strategic Autonomy in Next Generation Advancement and Manufacturing (SANGAM) and Defence Industry Harnessing through Resilient UPEIDA Verticals and Alliances (DHRUVA) – will be conducted on 05 and 06 May 2026, bringing together experts from the Armed Forces, industry and academia to deliberate on capability development, emerging technologies and research trends.

The symposium is aimed at bridging the gap between operational requirements of the Armed Forces and indigenous technological capabilities, contributing to the broader objective of defence self-reliance. Participation at the Curtain Raiser reflected strong interest and commitment from industry, start-ups and academic institutions towards advancing India’s defence capability. (JKNS)
