Anantnag, Mar 27 (JKNS): Authorities at Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag have placed three staff members under suspension pending an inquiry into alleged lapses in patient care following an incident reported on March 26.
According to details available with news agency JKNS, those suspended include the Incharge Store Keeper, Incharge Pharmacist and a Staff Nurse from the Surgery Ward.
The action follows allegations that expired glucose was administered to patients, sparking serious concerns over hospital safety protocols.
Medical Superintendent MMABM Associated Hospital, Dr. Arshad Hassan Siddiqui, said that a comprehensive probe has been initiated and accountability will be fixed without delay. He reiterated that any negligence compromising patient safety will not be tolerated.
Meanwhile, attendants alleged that some patients showed unusual reactions after being administered intravenous fluids. They claimed that upon inspection, the glucose bottles were found to be expired for nearly a year.
Calling it a grave lapse, attendants demanded strict action and a thorough investigation into the entire supply chain, questioning how expired stock reached the wards.
They also urged authorities to blacklist the supplier if found responsible and sought regular audits of medicines and medical consumables to prevent such incidents in future. (JKNS)
