Srinagar, Mar 27 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday denounced the ongoing conflict involving Iran and called upon the Central Government to utilise diplomatic channels to help bring down tensions and restore peace.
Addressing the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar termed the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and others during the conflict as unacceptable. He voiced serious concern over civilian casualties, especially children, asserting that such acts cannot be justified.
Chief Minister also questioned the clarity of the war’s objectives, pointing to varying statements from the US leadership. Referring to its impact on J&K, he noted that residents were stranded in Iran and panic was visible through queues at petrol pumps.
Omar urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to use India’s ties with the US, Israel and Iran to push for an immediate end to hostilities, stressing the need for a humanitarian approach to prevent further loss of life. (JKNS)
