Srinagar, Mar 28 (JKNS): The Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) on Saturday organised a large-scale road safety awareness programme in Gurez area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, aiming to sensitise youth and the general public about safe road practices and adherence to traffic rules.
The highlight of the programme was a cycle rally that commenced from Habak Khatoon Sumoo Stand and culminated at Government Degree College Gurez.
The rally, organised in collaboration with the Zonal Education Office (ZEO) Gurez, saw enthusiastic participation from students and teachers, who rode through the route carrying messages promoting disciplined and responsible road behaviour.
The event was conducted under the supervision of Director General DYSS Anuradha Gupta and guidance of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Bandipora.
Station House Officer (SHO) Gurez and the Principal of BHSS Dawar were present on the occasion.
Addressing the participants, the dignitaries appreciated the efforts of DYSS and ZEO, emphasising the importance of awareness initiatives at the grassroots level to reduce road accidents and inculcate a culture of safety among the youth.
The programme concluded with participants taking a pledge to follow traffic norms and spread awareness about road safety in their communities. —(JKNS)
