Tangdhar, Mar 27 (JKNS): In a significant humanitarian outreach initiative under Op Sadbhavana, the Indian Army successfully organised a four-day Eye, Medical and Dental Camp at FSC (Ex-328 Field Hospital), Tangdhar, from March 24 to March 27, 2026.

The camp was conducted under the aegis of the Indian Army’s 104 Infantry Brigade, in coordination with 92 Base Hospital, Srinagar.

The primary objective of the camp was to provide specialised healthcare services to serving troops, their families, ex-servicemen, and civilians residing in the remote and operationally sensitive Karnah Valley. The initiative witnessed an overwhelming response, highlighting the growing need for quality healthcare facilities in the region.

The camp offered a wide range of services, including specialist eye consultations, cataract screening and surgeries, general medical and dental OPDs, pre-operative and post-operative care, as well as a voluntary blood donation drive.

A total of 1,152 beneficiaries were treated during the camp. This included 528 patients in the Eye OPD, 386 consultations in the Medical OPD, and 238 consultations in the Dental OPD. Additionally, 48 units of blood were voluntarily donated by service personnel and civilians.

Significantly, 158 patients were identified for further eye treatment, while 19 cataract surgeries were successfully conducted by a specialist team from 92 Base Hospital. The ophthalmic segment of the camp was led by Brigadier B.V. Rao, Commandant of 92 Base Hospital, whose leadership played a crucial role in the successful execution of the surgical procedures.

The camp was also visited by Major General Giriraj Singh, MG Med, HQ Northern Command, who reviewed the arrangements and appreciated the dedication of the medical and support staff working in challenging terrain and operational conditions.

The initiative not only addressed essential healthcare needs but also strengthened civil-military cooperation and enhanced goodwill among the local population. It stands as a reflection of the Indian Army’s guiding principle of Seva Parmo Dharma and its unwavering commitment to humanitarian service alongside operational readiness.

The success of the camp highlights its potential as a model for future medical outreach programmes in remote and underserved regions, ensuring continued healthcare support and confidence-building among border communities. (JKNS)
