Srinagar, Mar 29 (JKNS): On the occasion of World Tuberculosis Day, the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on Sunday organized an orientation programme for postgraduate residents, aimed at enhancing awareness, strengthening clinical knowledge, and promoting active participation in tuberculosis elimination efforts.

The programme was conducted as part of the 100 Days Intensified TB Elimination Campaign, which was formally inaugurated by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.

The campaign focuses on accelerated detection, effective treatment, and preventive strategies, particularly targeting high-risk populations, in alignment with the national goal of TB elimination.

The event commenced with an inaugural session that underscored the significance of World Tuberculosis Day and highlighted the urgent need for a coordinated and sustained response to combat tuberculosis.

The programme witnessed active participation from postgraduate residents, faculty members, and healthcare professionals, reflecting a strong multidisciplinary approach towards TB control.

Special emphasis was laid on the critical role of young medical professionals in strengthening TB surveillance, early diagnosis, treatment adherence, and patient-centered care.

The session was attended by Director SKIMS & EOSG, Dean Medical Faculty, Head of the Department of General Medicine, Nodal Officer NTEP (Clinical Side), Medical Superintendent, along with senior faculty members of SKIMS. (JKNS)
