Jammu, Mar 30 (JKNS): Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Monday asserted that the Jammu and Kashmir government retains sufficient legislative authority to address key public issues despite the absence of full statehood.
Speaking to reporters after her first visit to the Assembly complex after 2018, as per news agency JKNS, Mufti said the present dispensation can enact laws on crucial matters such as land rights, creation of new districts and administrative units, and concerns related to daily wagers.
She emphasized that the government must prioritise delivery on its promises, particularly generating employment for one lakh youth and reviewing reservation-related concerns. Mufti also called for a comprehensive reassessment of policies affecting daily wagers, urging their regularisation on humanitarian grounds without political considerations.
Highlighting SRO-linked issues, she said long-pending grievances of workers deserve immediate attention. Commenting on the evolving situation in West Asia, Mufti remarked that Iran appears steadfast and determined amid the ongoing conflict. (JKNS)
