Srinagar, Apr 1 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has welcomed the government’s decision to approve the construction of a flyover connecting Rajbagh to Sangarmal in Srinagar, terming it a long-pending and much-needed project for easing traffic congestion.
In a post on X, Bukhari, as per news agency JKNS, said the flyover, once completed, would significantly reduce traffic pressure in the area and bring relief to commuters.
However, he also criticised former Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, alleging that key infrastructure decisions during her tenure were mishandled. He claimed that the original plan for a motorable bridge was altered into a footbridge, ignoring expert advice.
Bukhari further referred to the shifting of the Batamaloo bus stand to Parimpora and the ban on stone mining in certain areas, stating that such decisions adversely affected traders, transporters and labourers, pushing many into financial distress.
He said these decisions reflected poor judgment and had a lasting impact on Srinagar’s economy and development.
Expressing hope, Bukhari urged that work on the flyover should commence without delay so that people get timely relief from traffic congestion in the city. (JKNS)
