Srinagar, Apr 2 (JKNS): The Meteorological Department Srinagar on Wednesday said that erratic weather conditions are expected to continue across Jammu and Kashmir till April 10, with intermittent spells of rain, snow and gusty winds likely in the coming days.

Director MET Srinagar, Dr Mukhtar Ahmad as per news agency JKNS said, that on April 2, a brief spell of light rain or snow at a few places cannot be ruled out towards late afternoon.

He added that during April 3–4, the weather will remain generally cloudy with intermittent light to moderate rain or snow at many places, accompanied by thunder, hailstorm and gusty winds from the afternoon of April 3 to the evening of April 4, with isolated moderate to heavy precipitation over higher reaches of both Kashmir and Jammu divisions.

He further said that April 5-6 is expected to remain partly cloudy with light rain at isolated places, while fresh spells of light to moderate rain/snow (in higher reaches), thunder and gusty winds are likely at many places between April 7 and 9.

Issuing an advisory, the MeT department warned of thunder, hailstorms and gusty winds (40–50 kmph) at a few places during April 3 and 4. It also cautioned that intense showers over short durations may trigger flash floods, landslides, shooting stones and waterlogging in vulnerable and low-lying areas.

Farmers have been advised to suspend agricultural operations, while travellers are urged to plan their movement accordingly. (JKNS)
