Pattan, Apr 2 (JKNS): The protest by employees of the National Health Mission (NHM) entered its second consecutive day on Thursday at Trauma Hospital Pattan, as workers intensified their demand for equal pay and timely disbursement of salaries.
The agitating employees have been voicing serious concerns over ongoing salary disparities and frequent delays in wage payments. Despite performing duties comparable to regular health department staff, the protesters alleged that they continue to receive significantly lower wages.
Raising slogans such as “equal pay for equal work,” the employees urged the authorities to take immediate action to address the issue. They emphasized that the prolonged neglect of their demands has not only caused financial instability but has also led to mental stress among workers and their families.
The protesters further highlighted that delays in salary payments have become a recurring issue, severely impacting their day-to-day lives. Carrying placards and staging demonstrations within the hospital premises, they called for swift intervention from the government and concerned officials.
Warning of intensified agitation, the employees stated that if their genuine demands are not met at the earliest, they would be left with no option but to escalate their protest in the coming days.
The NHM staff appealed to the administration to ensure fair wages and timely release of salaries, enabling them to continue their essential healthcare services without distress.(JKNS)
