Sopore, Apr 6 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, Sopore Police apprehended a drug peddler during naka duty under the jurisdiction of Police Post Putkha and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
As per news agency JKNS, During naka checking at Wagub Crossing, a suspicious individual was intercepted and apprehended. Upon personal search, charas-like substance was recovered and seized as per due procedure.
The accused has been identified as Irfan Ahmad Bhat, S/O Ghulam Ahmad Bhat, R/O Panzipora Tarzoo.
Accordingly, FIR No. 49/2026 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirm their commitment to sustained enforcement to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs. (JKNS)
