Baramulla: (JKNS) The ongoing Mega Job Fair 2026 in Baramulla maintained strong momentum on its second day, emerging as a significant platform for providing dignified employment opportunities to skilled youth. The initiative is being organized by the Indian Army’s Dagger Division in collaboration with the District Employment and Counselling Centre and Mission Yuva, with participation from various government and private sector organizations.

Following an impressive turnout on the opening day, a large number of youth from Baramulla and adjoining areas attended the event on the second day as well. The job fair has broken previous records in terms of participation and outcomes.

More than 2,000 candidates appeared for interviews on the second day, competing for over 1,150 vacancies. This remarkable participation reflects the preparedness and capability of the youth, as well as the growing confidence of employers.

Several reputed companies are participating in the job fair, including Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra, Hotel Royal Castle, Hotel Khyber, Hotel Sarovar Portico, Honda, SBI Life, and Prahari. Employment opportunities are being offered across various sectors such as Information Technology, healthcare, hospitality, banking, retail, manufacturing, automobiles, and marketing.

Recruiting companies conducted on-the-spot interviews, career counselling sessions, and skill development workshops. Some organizations also facilitated online interviews, enabling candidates to access opportunities beyond the region.

Government departments set up special counters to promote self-employment schemes and provide information about subsidized loans, encouraging entrepreneurial initiatives and financial independence among youth.

On the occasion, the General Officer Commanding of the Dagger Division stated that the youth of Baramulla possess immense potential and need the right platform to transform their aspirations into success. He emphasized that the job fair is not just about employment but also about empowerment and contributing positively to society.

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Fakhruddin Hamid, said that generating sustainable employment opportunities remains a top priority. He added that such initiatives connect youth with industry and contribute to long-term economic growth.
Among the success stories, Ms. Nafiya Tabassum secured a job with Amazon India. She stated that the job fair boosted her confidence and provided an excellent opportunity to shape her future. Similarly, two ex-servicemen secured jobs at Canara Bank in Sopore.

The Mega Job Fair reflects ongoing efforts to enhance youth participation and promote economic development in Jammu and Kashmir. By providing access to employment and skills, the initiative plays a vital role in building a confident and self-reliant generation.(JKNS)
