Srinagar, Apr 8 (JKNS): The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday welcomed the ceasefire in West Asia and expressed hope that it would lead to lasting peace in the region.
In a statement issued on April 8, as per news agency JKNS, the ministry said that India has consistently advocated for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy to bring an early end to the ongoing conflict.
The ministry said the conflict has caused immense suffering to people and disrupted global energy supply and trade networks.
It further said that unimpeded freedom of navigation and smooth flow of global commerce through the Strait of Hormuz should be ensured. (JKNS)
