Kupwara, Apr 9 (JKNS): An 18-year-old youth lost his life in a tragic road accident involving a hit-and-run followed by another collision in the Tikker area of Kupwara on Thursday, officials said.
Officials told news agency JKNS that the deceased has been identified as Zeya Abroo Waza, son of Khursheed Ahmad Waza, a resident of Zurhama Trehgam. He was travelling on a motorcycle from Zurhama towards Kupwara when his vehicle was hit by an unknown WagonR, which fled the scene.
Following the impact, the rider fell on the road and was subsequently run over by another vehicle, a load carrier, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rushed him to Sub-District Hospital Kupwara, where doctors declared him brought dead.
The body has been shifted to SDH Kupwara for medico-legal procedures, while police have taken cognizance of the incident and started further investigation. (JKNS)
