Jammu, Apr 9 (JKNS): The Directorate General of Resettlement (DGR), Ministry of Defence, Government of India, has commenced a pioneering course on Operations Management at IIM Jammu from 06 April to 22 June 2026, aimed at enhancing the professional skills of retiring Armed Forces personnel.

The course is designed to equip Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and Other Ranks (OR) with modern management knowledge, facilitating a smooth transition into the corporate sector or enabling them to take up roles such as Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs).

A total of 32 participants from the Army, Navy, and Air Force are attending the programme, bringing with them rich operational experience and strong leadership qualities. The curriculum focuses on logistics, supply chain management, and process efficiency.

The programme is being conducted under the guidance of the faculty and staff of IIM Jammu, including Dr. Jabir Ali, Dean (Faculty & Research), Dr. Kapil Gumte, Programme Director and Mr. Prashant Mishra, Chairperson – Executive Education, who are providing academic direction and institutional support.

The course was formally inaugurated on 09 April 2026 with an opening address by Brigadier G.P. Chamoli of Northern Command, who emphasized the importance of continuous and structured learning for success in the corporate world. He also urged IIM Jammu to extend equal opportunities to these participants, noting that they would serve as ambassadors of both IIM Jammu and the Indian Armed Forces.

This initiative reflects DGR’s commitment to empowering ex-servicemen for successful second careers in the civilian domain. (JKNS)
