Budgam, Apr 10 (JKNS): The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir has intensified its traffic enforcement drive across Doodhpathri tourist destination and various rural areas of Beerwah under the leadership of DySP Traffic, Farooq Ahmad.
The initiative aims to streamline traffic movement, enhance road safety, and safeguard the lives of both local residents and visiting tourists. Traffic personnel have been actively deployed on the ground, monitoring vehicular movement and ensuring strict enforcement of traffic regulations.
During the drive, strict action was taken against violators for offences including overloading, overspeeding, riding without helmets, and other breaches of traffic rules. A total of 20 challans were issued against violators.
Special focus was laid on regulating the movement of tourists heading towards Doodhpathri to reduce congestion and ensure smooth travel experience. The enforcement drive was carried out under the direct supervision of DySP Traffic Farooq Ahmad along with other traffic officials.
According to officials, the drive was intensified in response to public complaints, particularly regarding traffic mismanagement and repeated violations on the Beerwah–Khansahib road. They reiterated that strict legal action against violators will continue in the future as well.
Alongside enforcement measures, awareness campaigns are also being conducted to educate the public about the importance of traffic rules and to encourage safe driving practices among commuters.
On the occasion, DySP Traffic Farooq Ahmad stated that the department remains committed to ensuring public safety and emphasized that continuous enforcement actions, along with public cooperation, are essential to reduce road accidents and maintain traffic discipline.
The Traffic Police has appealed to the general public, especially tourists and local commuters, to strictly follow traffic rules and cooperate with authorities in maintaining a safe and smooth traffic system. (JKNS)
