Jammu, Apr 12 (JKNS): Stressing organisational strength and ideological clarity, BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh said the party’s focus in Jammu and Kashmir must shift towards robust booth-level consolidation, asserting that the BJP is a nationalist movement driving transformation in the region while sharply criticising the National Conference-led government over alleged governance failures and unfulfilled promises.
Addressing the State Office Bearers’ Meeting at the BJP headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, BJP National General Secretary and Prabhari for Jammu & Kashmir, Tarun Chugh, asserted that the meeting was not merely an organizational exercise but a decisive moment in shaping the future direction of Jammu & Kashmir. He emphasized that the Bharatiya Janata Party is not just a political party, but a deeply rooted ideological movement committed to nation-building, driven by the principles of nationalism, Antyodaya, and “Nation First.” He reiterated that the true strength of the BJP lies not in individuals, but in its dedicated cadre working tirelessly at the booth level.
Chugh called for comprehensive booth-level strengthening, directing that all organizational structures be completed in a time-bound manner down to the grassroots. He stressed the institutionalization of regular monthly meetings at every level—Booth, Shakti Kendra, Mandal, District, and State—to ensure seamless coordination and sustained organizational momentum. He further underlined the importance of increased “Pravas” by leaders in their designated areas to maintain continuous engagement with the public and boost cadre morale, stating that a strong organizational base is the backbone of electoral and ideological success.
Highlighting the transformative impact of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Chugh said that the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas” has translated into visible change on the ground in Jammu & Kashmir. He stated that the abrogation of Article 370 was not merely a constitutional decision but a historic step towards complete national integration, bringing peace, stability, and accelerated development to the region. He pointed out that areas from Kupwara to Kathua are now witnessing a new era of progress, countering earlier narratives of unrest and uncertainty.
Reaffirming the BJP’s firm stance on national security, Chugh stated that today’s India is capable of taking decisive and strong action against terrorism and separatism. He referred to recent strategic operations as a reflection of this new resolve, asserting that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India has demonstrated zero tolerance towards forces that threaten national unity and integrity. He urged party leaders to remain vigilant against divisive and anti-national elements and to respond with clarity and conviction while upholding the party’s ideological framework.
Launching a sharp attack on the National Conference-led government, Chugh said that the current dispensation represents a model of dynastic and family-centric politics, where governance has been reduced to legacy rather than public service. He alleged that financial irregularities, including issues like the Roshni scam and rising fiscal deficit, have severely dented the credibility of the government. He further stated that administrative inefficiencies, particularly in disaster management and public welfare delivery, have exposed the weaknesses of the present regime.
Chugh also accused the government of betraying public trust through unfulfilled electoral promises. He noted that commitments such as 200 units of free electricity have been diluted, the promise of 12 free LPG cylinders reduced to six, and assurances of one lakh jobs for youth remain largely unaddressed on the ground. He remarked that initiating limited recruitment processes while remaining silent on the majority of promised jobs reflects a lack of seriousness towards the aspirations of the youth. He further pointed to unmet commitments for farmers, daily wage workers, and women, stating that these failures highlight a pattern of governance driven by announcements rather than delivery.
On women empowerment, Chugh contrasted the inaction of the state government with the initiatives of the central government, particularly the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which he described as a historic step towards ensuring meaningful political representation for women. He said that this reflects the BJP’s commitment to inclusive development, where women are not just beneficiaries but equal partners in nation-building.
Chugh called upon party leaders and workers to act as a strong bridge between the government and the people, ensuring that every scheme and policy reaches the grassroots effectively. He urged them to strengthen every booth into an impregnable organizational unit and to move forward with the resolve of placing the nation first, taking the BJP’s message to every household, and ensuring that Jammu & Kashmir continues its journey towards peace, prosperity, and development.
