Sopore, Apr 13 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace and in furtherance of the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Sopore Police apprehended two drug peddlers during naka duty under the jurisdiction of Police Post Warpora and recovered contraband and psychotropic substances from their possession.
During evening naka checking at Dangarpora–Warpora Bypass Road, two suspicious individuals were intercepted and apprehended. Upon their search, charas-like substance and Codeine Phosphate were recovered and seized as per due procedure.
The accused have been identified as Umar Amin Banday, S/O Mohammad Amin Banday, R/O Noorbagh Sopore, and Basit Ahmad Shah, S/O Abdul Aziz Shah, R/O Naseem Bagh Sopore.
Accordingly, FIR No. 89/2026 under Sections 8/20, 22 and 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Sopore Police reiterate their zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and reaffirm their commitment to sustained enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs. (JKNS)
