Srinagar, Apr 22 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that the Union Territory remains united against terror and violence, reiterating commitment to end suffering and protect innocent lives.
In a post on X, as per news agency JKNS, CM Omar said, “One year on, we remain united against terror & against violence. We remain resolute in our desire to rid J&K of suffering & innocent deaths.”
He further stated, “We remain committed to doing everything to ensure it never happens again. We also remain in eternal solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones a year ago in that cowardly attack. May the souls of the victims of the terror attack rest in peace. #baisaran”
The statement comes on the first anniversary of the April 22, 2025 terror attack in Baisaran, Pahalgam, where terrorists targeted tourists, killing 26 people, including 25 tourists and one pony ride operator.
Following the attack, India carried out retaliatory strikes on terror launch pads across the border on May 7 under “Operation Sindoor,” which continued for three days. The operation was later followed by a ceasefire announcement on May 11 at 5 PM. (JKNS)
