Air Raid Mock Drill, Blackout Exercise to Be Held in Shopian on April 24

Shopian, Apr 23 (JKNS): District Disaster Management Authority Shopian has ordered the conduct of a Civil Defence Air Raid Mock Drill and Blackout Exercise in the district on April 24, 2026, aimed at strengthening emergency response and preparedness mechanisms.

According to an official order issued by the District Magistrate Shopian, as per news agency JKNS, the exercise will be conducted at Government Degree College Shopian in two phases. The first phase, comprising the mock drill, will be held at 2:00 PM, while the second phase involving a blackout exercise will take place from 8:00 PM to 8:10 PM.

 

The order states that the exercise will include simulation of air raid warning, evacuation, search and rescue operations, and emergency response in accordance with standard operating procedures. Multiple departments including police, SDRF, Civil Defence, Fire and Emergency Services, Health, PDD, Transport, and municipal authorities will participate.

 

Officials have been directed to ensure coordinated efforts, adherence to safety protocols, and timely presence at the venue. The District Information Officer has been tasked with creating public awareness to avoid panic among residents.

 

The administration said the drill is being conducted in compliance with directions from the Home Department and aims to enhance coordination among stakeholders for effective disaster management. (JKNS)
