Shopian, Apr 27 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Shopian Police arrested one drug peddler and 144Grams of charas-like substance recovered from his possession.

 

As per news agency JKNS, During routine naka checking at Tul Bagh Haji Check Crossing, a police party from Police Post Keegam observed a person moving under suspicious circumstances and tactfully apprehended him. Upon search, a 144Grams of charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Jumeer Ahmad Mir son of Ab Rashid Mir resident of Pirpora Keegam. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 63/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Shopian. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and to dismantle the broader drug network involved.

 

Shopian Police reiterates its firm commitment to maintaining a drug-free society and urges the general public to cooperate in this noble mission. Citizens are requested to share any information related to drug abuse or drug peddling on the helpline number 9596768831 (PCR Shopian). The identity of informers will be kept strictly confidential.
