Pulwama, Apr 29 (JKNS): Continuing its sustained crackdown under the ongoing 100 Days Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Pulwama Police on Wednesday intensified coordinated enforcement and awareness measures across the district, reaffirming its firm resolve to eliminate the drug menace from society.

As per news agency JKNS, Police carried out a series of coordinated enforcement and awareness activities across the district, reaffirming its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from society.

In a major enforcement drive, Pulwama Police conducted search operations at multiple locations including areas under Police Station Rajpora and Police Post Rahmoo, targeting the residences of suspected drug peddlers. In continuation, a CASO (Cordon and Search Operation) was also launched in the Lelhar area, during which residential houses of suspected individuals along with adjoining premises were thoroughly searched to curb illegal narcotics activities and detect any NDPS-related contraband.

In a significant regulatory action, a drug store in Pulwama town was sealed in coordination with the Drug Inspector for violation of prescribed norms related to the sale of controlled drugs, reflecting strict enforcement of SOPs governing pharmaceutical practices.

Pulwama Police also intensified inspections of medical shops across various areas to prevent misuse of psychotropic substances and ensure strict adherence to legal provisions.

On the awareness front, multiple programmes were organised across the district. An awareness session was conducted at Degree College Rajpora, while another programme in collaboration with the Health Department was held at Upper Primary School Wagum, witnessing participation from students as well as local residents. Additionally, an outreach programme at GMS Qazigund Kakapora sensitized participants about the objectives of the ongoing campaign and the harmful effects of drug abuse.

Pulwama Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse and urges the public to continue extending support by sharing any information related to drug-related activities, thereby contributing towards a safer and drug-free society. (JKNS)
