Prominent among them were Principal GDC Karnah, Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, ACR Kupwara Peerzada Mumtaz Ahmad, BDO Tangdar Mudasir Sikander, Tehsildar Karnah Mohammad Amin Bhat, Xen SSD Tangdar Javid Iqbal, social activist Touseef Ahmad Raina, members of the Bar Association Karnah, civil society representatives, faculty members, and a large number of enthusiastic students.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the urgent need for collective societal efforts to tackle the growing menace of drug abuse. He described youth as the nation’s most valuable asset and urged them to become agents of change by spreading awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse within their communities.

In his address, SSP Kupwara highlighted the crucial role of law enforcement agencies in curbing drug trafficking and appealed to the public to support authorities by sharing information and participating in preventive initiatives.

Col. Sundeep Bose and other officers also spoke about the dangers of drug abuse and emphasized the need for its complete eradication.

A pledge ceremony was also held during the event, where all participants collectively resolved to stay away from drugs and actively contribute towards making Jammu and Kashmir drug-free.

The programme featured vibrant cultural performances by students, including skits, songs, and thematic presentations, effectively conveying strong messages about the dangers of drug addiction and the importance of leading a healthy and disciplined life.

On the occasion, participants were also made aware of the Gyan Bharatam initiative, which aims to survey, document, and digitize India’s vast manuscript heritage to preserve its rich intellectual and cultural legacy for future generations.
