Srinagar, May 5 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Minister Sakina Itoo on Tuesday said that the government is committed to strengthening healthcare facilities across the Union Territory, with a focus on ensuring timely treatment and improved services in remote areas.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Itoo, as per news agency JKNS, said, “Honourable MLA Justice Hassan Masoodi Sahib has done a lot of work in this hospital over the last one to one-and-a-half years. As you can see, many facilities have been developed here. Today, the digital X-ray has been inaugurated, and the thyroid analyser has also been made functional so that better patient care can be ensured.”
She added, “Our effort is that people from remote areas should get treatment on time and should not have to go anywhere else. We want to ensure that healthcare facilities are available at the doorsteps of the people.”
Highlighting staff shortages, the Minister said, “We are still facing a shortage of staff. Doctors are being hired through academic arrangements, and paramedical staff is also being engaged. Since the formation of the government under Omar Abdullah Sahib, around 524 new doctors have been recruited to strengthen healthcare services, especially in remote areas.”
She further said, “We still need more staff. Recruitment boards have already been referred, some posts have been sanctioned, and others are under process. Once these are filled, the shortage will gradually be addressed.” (JKNS)
