Karnah, May 7 (JKNS): A massive anti-drug awareness rally under the nationwide “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” was organized today in Karnah by the Private Schools Association Jammu & Kashmir. Nearly one thousand students from various private educational institutions of Karnah enthusiastically participated in the programme, which aimed to spread awareness against drug abuse and promote a healthy and positive lifestyle among the youth.

The rally was flagged off by Col. Sudeep Bose (Dy. Commander of the 104 Infantry Brigade) and Rana Shah Mohammad, Zonal Education Officer for the Tangdhar and Chamkote Zone. The programme was attended by prominent citizens, teachers, parents, and heads of various educational institutions.

The rally commenced from Government Degree College Karnah and passed through various markets and localities before culminating at the Public Park. Students carried banners and placards displaying powerful anti-drug messages and raised slogans such as “Say No to Drugs, Say Yes to Education” and “Drug-Free Karnah, Drug-Free Kashmir.”

Addressing the gathering, Col. Sudeep Bose appreciated the discipline, enthusiasm, and dedication displayed by the students and teachers during the rally. He stated that the youth represent the bright future of the nation and must always be encouraged towards positive and constructive activities.

Speaking on the occasion, Rana Shah Mohammad praised the excellent arrangements made by the participating institutions and appreciated the discipline maintained by the students and teachers. He remarked that such awareness programmes play a significant role in creating social responsibility and awareness among the younger generation.

President of the Private Schools Association Jammu & Kashmir, Peerzada Ishfaq Saeed, stated that society has a collective responsibility to provide children with quality education and a safe environment. He emphasized that private educational institutions are important “knowledge partners” of the government and contribute significantly towards social development and nation-building.

He further added that positive initiatives in border areas like Karnah are essential to guide the younger generation away from negative influences and harmful activities.

Head of the Teachers’ Association and noted writer Iftikhar Ahmad Qureshi also addressed the gathering and highlighted the serious dangers of drug abuse. He remarked that drugs are silently destroying the social fabric and stressed the need for continuous awareness programmes to safeguard society, especially the youth.

The programme was organized under the leadership of Baba Nazar-ul-Islam and Altaf Anjum Qureshi. Students, teachers, and management members from thirteen private schools of Karnah actively participated in the rally.

At the conclusion of the event, the organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Police Department, Health Department, Karnah Administration, and all concerned departments and officials for their cooperation and support in making the programme successful.

The speakers expressed hope that such awareness initiatives would continue in the future to guide the younger generation towards a healthier, brighter, and drug-free society. (JKNS)
