Srinagar, May 8 (JKNS): Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Friday said that community participation continues to remain the backbone of the anti-drug movement in Kashmir, with thousands of mosques and religious institutions actively taking part in the ongoing Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan across the Valley.

As per news agency JKNS, Div Com Garg said, that since the launch of the accelerated anti-drug campaign on April 11, more than 4,000 mosques and religious institutions across Kashmir have hosted anti-drug awareness and outreach programmes.

He said around 955 religious heads have actively participated in the campaign by spreading awareness among people regarding the harmful effects of drug abuse and the collective responsibility needed to eradicate the menace from society.

According to the Divisional Commissioner, special outreach activities and awareness sermons were held after Friday prayers at several prominent shrines and religious places including Peer Dastgeer Sahib Shrine, Jenab Sahib Shrine, Hazratbal Shrine, Syed Hyder Reshi Sahib Shrine, Baba Reshi Shrine, Resh Moul Shrine and Ashmuqam Shrine.

The religious leaders urged people to actively participate in the anti-drug movement and support the administration in building a safer and drug-free Kashmir. (JKNS)
