Washington, May 11 (JKNS): Donald Trump has rejected Iran’s latest proposal aimed at ending the ongoing conflict, describing the response from Tehran as “totally unacceptable” amid continued tensions between the two countries.
Trump said he had reviewed the response sent by Iran’s representatives and expressed strong dissatisfaction over its contents.
“I have just read the response from Iran’s so-called representatives. I don’t like it, totally unacceptable,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social as per news agency JKNS.
The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict between the US and Iran, which began earlier this year and has significantly impacted regional stability and global oil supply routes, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
Speaking to media outlet Axios, Trump reportedly said the Iranian response was “inappropriate” and declined to reveal specific details regarding the contents of the proposal. He also accused Tehran of misleading several countries over the years.
Meanwhile, senior Republican Senator Lindsey Graham urged Trump to consider stronger measures, including possible military action, stating that diplomatic efforts had not produced the desired outcome.
Trump also confirmed holding discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu regarding the developments and the ongoing negotiations with Iran.
The US and Iran have been engaged in talks to reach a permanent agreement aimed at ending hostilities and easing tensions, including discussions on sanctions, uranium enrichment and reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for unrestricted global oil movement. (JKNS)
