Two Tourists Killed, Three Injured After Vehicle Falls into Gorge in Pahalgam

Pahalgam, May 16 (JKNS): Two tourists lost their lives and three others were injured after a vehicle they were travelling in met with an accident and fell into a deep gorge in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Saturday.

 

Officials told news agency JKNS that a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK21A-0379, en route from Pahalgam towards Aru, skidded off the road near Mandlan area of Pahalgam.

 

They said one tourist died on the spot, while another injured person succumbed to injuries at the hospital, taking the toll to two.

 

The deceased have been identified as Bawin Bhavsar and Awin Bhavsar, both residents of Gujarat.

 

The injured include Naina, wife of Ashokbhai, Ashokbhai himself, both residents of Gujarat, and Rayees Ahmad Bhat, a resident of Pahalgam.

 

Officials said all the injured were initially shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Pahalgam and later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for advanced treatment.

 

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and further investigation is underway. (JKNS)
