Budgam, May 18 (JKNS): Residents of Panzinar Nasrpora Khag have expressed serious concern over the supply of contaminated drinking water in the area, alleging that due to the negligence of the concerned Jal Shakti Department, nearly 80 households are being forced to consume unsafe and unhygienic water.
The locals stated that despite living in the 21st century, they are still deprived of one of the most basic necessities of life—clean and safe drinking water. They termed the situation a failure of governance and said that although they had high expectations from the new administration, even after two years the core issues of the area remain unresolved.
Several women from the area voiced their anger and frustration, saying that contaminated water has severely affected the health of children and elderly people.
One local woman said: “We are still forced to drink muddy and contaminated water. Our children are falling sick, but no one listens to our complaints. We are left struggling for every drop of clean water.”
Another resident questioned the implementation of government schemes, stating that people only hear about schemes while ground realities remain unchanged and basic facilities are still missing.
The locals expressed hope in the Lieutenant Governor’s administration, urging it to take serious note of the issue and ensure the supply of clean drinking water in the affected area.
Residents also appealed to the Deputy Commissioner Budgam and senior officials of the Jal Shakti Department to urgently intervene and take immediate corrective measures.
They warned that if the issue is not resolved at the earliest, they will be forced to launch protests against the concerned department. (JKNS)
