Pulwama, May 19 (JKNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Tuesday led one of the largest anti-drug public rallies in Pulwama, reiterating the administration’s resolve to dismantle the narco-terror network and eliminate the drug menace from Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the massive gathering during the padyatra, as per news agency JKNS, Sinha said the fight against drugs was not merely the responsibility of the administration but a collective mission of society.

“Let us make a collective promise that drug peddlers will not be allowed to thrive in our villages and neighbourhoods. We will rehabilitate the youth who have fallen victim to addiction,” he said.

He termed the anti-drug campaign his “personal mission” and asserted that the dreams of Jammu and Kashmir’s youth would not be allowed to collapse under the burden of substance abuse.

“Thousands of smugglers have been jailed, hundreds of properties seized and structures raised with drug money demolished during the ongoing campaign,” Sinha said, adding that the administration was tracking the financial networks linked to narco-terrorism.

Issuing a stern warning to drug syndicates and anti-national elements, the Lieutenant Governor said every smuggling chain and peddler network operating in Jammu and Kashmir would be dismantled. “Every trafficker will be exposed, every criminal will face justice and anyone aiding the drug network from within or outside Jammu and Kashmir will be held accountable under the full force of law,” he said.

Sinha further alleged that Pakistan was using drugs as a tool to harm the youth and finance terrorism in the region. He said the administration’s anti-drug mission was advancing on three fronts, breaking supply chains, spreading awareness at the grassroots level and rehabilitating addicts with dignity and care.

Highlighting public participation in the campaign, the Lieutenant Governor said schools, colleges, families, religious leaders, sportspersons, village elders and youth had played a crucial role in strengthening the movement against drugs.

He also lauded the role of women and youth in the campaign and said Panchayat Mahila Samitis and youth clubs established across villages were emerging as a powerful force in ensuring drug-free communities.

The anti-drug campaign launched earlier this year has witnessed significant public support across Jammu and Kashmir, with large-scale awareness drives and enforcement measures being carried out under the ‘Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir’ initiative. (JKNS)
