People Losing Trust in NC Due to Corruption, Poor Governance: BJP’s Ashok Koul

Srinagar, May 20 (JKNS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K, general secretary (Organisation) on Wednesday claimed that people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the youth, are losing confidence in the ruling National Conference (NC) over issues of corruption, misgovernance and failure to address public welfare concerns.

The remarks were made during a joining programme organised in Srinagar where several political workers, youth and activists from different parties, including the National Conference, joined the BJP.

According to BJP leaders as per news agency JKNS, hundreds of people participated in the programme, while many formally joined the party fold in the presence of senior BJP functionaries.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP J&K General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Koul said that growing public support for the BJP in Kashmir reflects increasing faith in the leadership and policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“The BJP is the only party committed to transparency, development, good governance and equal opportunities for all sections of society,” Koul said, as per news agency JKNS.

He alleged that the ruling National Conference has failed to fulfil public expectations and claimed that people, especially youth, are now looking towards BJP as an alternative.

Among those who joined the BJP included Danish Riyaz Dar from National Conference, Shabir Langoo, Mohammad Yousuf Zargar, Bharatiya Krishak Samaj J&K Vice President Tariq Sofi and Sanoor Choudhary, party leaders said.

Koul further stated that political acceptance of the BJP in Kashmir has increased significantly over the years.

“Earlier, people hesitated to associate openly with the BJP. Today, they are joining the party publicly and in front of the media, which itself reflects changing public sentiment,” he said.

The BJP leader added that the party would continue organising such outreach and joining programmes across Kashmir in the coming days. (JKNS)
