Budgam, May 20 (JKNS): A grand “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” programme was organized today at Aza Khana Hazrat Zahra (SA) Khanpora Khag under the banner of the All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association.
The programme aimed to spread awareness against the growing menace of drug abuse and promote the establishment of a healthy, peaceful, and progressive society.
The event witnessed participation from religious scholars, social activists, youth, elders, members of civil society, and administrative officials.
Speakers described the “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha as a positive and timely initiative, stating that the campaign is an important step towards protecting the younger generation from drug addiction and building a drug-free society in Jammu and Kashmir.
Islamic scholars including Syed Muzaffar Rizvi, Hujjat-ul-Islam Molana Shahnawaz Hyder Mir, and several other religious and social personalities also participated in the programme.
Addressing the gathering, noted Islamic scholar Sheikh Mohammad Hassan Zakiri expressed deep concern over the increasing drug addiction in society. He stated that intoxicants are destroying the future of the younger generation and weakening the moral and social fabric of society.
Sheikh Zakiri urged the youth to stay away from drugs and adopt education, religious values, discipline, and a healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that parents, religious institutions, teachers, traders, civil society, and the administration must work collectively and take effective measures to eliminate this social evil.
He also appealed for a complete ban on alcohol in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that both alcohol and cigarettes are harmful to society. He stressed that discouraging smoking and other intoxicants and ensuring effective preventive measures are the need of the hour to save the younger generation from destruction and addiction.
He appealed to parents to closely monitor the activities of their children and encourage them towards positive and constructive engagements. He also urged religious scholars, traders, social representatives, and the general public to collectively play an active role in protecting youth from drugs and other harmful habits.
Sheikh Zakiri said that awareness programmes like “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan” provide positive and responsible guidance to the younger generation. He appealed to social and religious organizations to further strengthen awareness campaigns at the grassroots level and continue anti-drug activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
Speakers at the programme emphasized the importance of unity, public participation, and collective responsibility, stating that everyone must work together to build a better and drug-free society.
The programme was organized by Marif-ul-Uloom Islami Khanpora Khag in collaboration with the All Jammu and Kashmir Shia Association. Participants appreciated the organizers for conducting such a meaningful awareness campaign.
At the conclusion of the programme, the management committee of Marif-ul-Uloom Islami Khanpora Khag and organizer Ghulam Mohammad Khanpora thanked all scholars, guests, volunteers, civil society members, and participants who played an important role in making the programme successful and impactful.
