Kupwara, May 24 (JKNS): A 23-year-old youth lost his life while another sustained injuries after lightning struck them in Chandigam Lolab area of Kupwara on Sunday evening.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS said that two youths identified as Abid Rahim Ganie, 23, son of Abdul Rahim, and Faizan Rahman Dar, 24, son of Abdul Rahman, both residents of Chandigam Lolab, came under a lightning strike during inclement weather conditions in the area.
Both were immediately rushed to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sogam, where doctors declared Abid Rahim Ganie brought dead on arrival, officials said.
The injured youth, Faizan Rahman Dar, was later referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for advanced treatment.
The incident triggered grief and shock in the area, with locals mourning the tragic loss of the young boy. Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance of the incident. (JKNS)
