Budgam, Jun 2 (JKNS): MLA Beerwah, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani, today chaired a review meeting of the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department at Town Hall Beerwah to assess the status of drinking water supply and review the progress of ongoing developmental works across the constituency.

The meeting was attended by the Executive Engineer PHE Budgam, Assistant Executive Engineer PHE Sub-Division Beerwah, other departmental officers, prominent citizens, and public representatives. Participants highlighted various public concerns and grievances related to drinking water supply and other civic amenities, while also offering suggestions for improving public services.

During the meeting, a detailed review of ongoing development projects, water supply schemes, and service delivery mechanisms was conducted. The concerned officers briefed the MLA on the progress of various initiatives, particularly those being implemented under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani stated that the primary objective of such public outreach programmes is to directly hear the concerns of the people and work collectively towards practical and sustainable solutions. He directed the concerned officials to ensure the timely completion of all ongoing projects, strengthen the water supply system, and guarantee uninterrupted access to safe drinking water, especially in areas facing water scarcity.

Officials informed the meeting that significant progress has been achieved under the Jal Jeevan Mission and that the project is nearing completion. They stated that a major portion of the work has already been completed, while the remaining components are dependent on the release of funds and will be executed on a priority basis as soon as funds become available.

Dr. Wani observed that since the formation of the present government, special emphasis has been placed on strengthening drinking water infrastructure and improving public services. He noted that the administration, in collaboration with the Central Government, is making sustained efforts to ensure the timely completion of developmental projects and promote public welfare.

The meeting also discussed priority areas requiring further intervention to enhance water supply services. The MLA emphasized the need for prompt redressal of public grievances and improved coordination among all concerned departments to ensure better service delivery.

Highlighting the importance of environmental conservation, Dr. Wani appealed to the public to actively contribute to the protection of water resources. He urged people to keep natural springs, streams, rivers, and other water bodies clean and avoid dumping waste or causing pollution in these vital sources.

“Water is a precious blessing from Almighty Allah and the foundation of life. Protecting this invaluable resource is our collective responsibility so that future generations can continue to benefit from it. We must keep our water bodies clean and safeguarded to ensure the welfare of society and sustainable development,” he said.

Reaffirming his commitment to public welfare, Dr. Shafi Ahmad Wani assured the people that all genuine public issues would be addressed on a priority basis. He pledged to continue working tirelessly towards improving infrastructure and strengthening public services across the Beerwah constituency.

The meeting concluded with participants reaffirming their commitment to work collectively for public welfare, better service delivery, and the sustainable conservation of water resources. (JKNS)
