Budgam, Jun 14 (JKNS): The Grand Finale of the Muzamil Premier League (MPL) T20 Cricket Tournament, 2nd Edition 2026, concluded successfully at Gulshan Ground, Machahama Beerwah amid great enthusiasm and participation from players, sports enthusiasts, and local residents.

The tournament was organized under the banner of the Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan with the aim of promoting sports and spreading awareness against drug abuse among youth.

The tournament was organized by noted social activist and youth leader Muzamil Mehmood, who has consistently worked towards youth empowerment and community development through sports and social initiatives.

A total of 32 teams from various parts of District Budgam participated in the tournament, making it one of the largest cricketing events for local youth in the district. The event provided a platform for young cricketers to showcase their talent, sportsmanship, and team spirit.

Speaking on the occasion, Muzamil Mehmood highlighted the vital role of sports in shaping a healthy, disciplined, and responsible generation. He emphasized that sports serve as a constructive avenue for channelizing the energy of youth, fostering leadership qualities, promoting teamwork, and encouraging them to stay away from drugs and other social evils.

The grand finale was attended by respected police officers, prominent social figures, community leaders, and other distinguished guests, who appreciated the efforts of the organizers in engaging youth through positive and meaningful activities.

During the closing ceremony, trophies, medals, and certificates of appreciation were distributed among the winning teams, outstanding performers, and individuals who contributed to the successful conduct of the tournament.

Muzamil Mehmood also stressed the importance of sports education, skill development, and community participation in building a progressive and drug-free society. He reaffirmed his commitment to organizing similar events in the future to provide greater opportunities for youth engagement and development.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks to all participating teams, volunteers, supporters, and stakeholders whose cooperation and dedication ensured the grand success of the tournament. The initiative was widely appreciated as a significant step towards promoting youth empowerment, social harmony, and the vision of a drug-free India. (JKNS)
