New Delhi, June 27 (JKNS): The names of six Indian military personnel who laid down their lives during Operation Sindoor have been inscribed at the National War Memorial in New Delhi, marking the first official public recognition of the fallen heroes since the military operation conducted in May 2025.

According to details available with news agency JKNS, the names of five Indian Army personnel and one Indian Air Force Sergeant have been engraved on Wall No. 3D of the Tyag Chakra at the National War Memorial as a tribute to their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty.

The martyrs honoured are Subedar Major Pawan Kumar, Rifleman Sunil Kumar, Lance Naik Dinesh Kumar, Agniveer Mood Muralinaik, Havildar Sunil Kumar Singh of the Indian Army, and Sergeant Surendra Kumar of the Indian Air Force. Their respective unit names have also been inscribed.

Officials said the names were recently added to the memorial and have also been published on the official website of the National War Memorial.

Operation Sindoor was launched by the Indian Armed Forces in May 2025 in response to the April 22, 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, with the operation aimed at targeting terrorist infrastructure across the border.

The National War Memorial, located near India Gate in New Delhi, honours soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice in defence of the nation since Independence. The memorial features the Amar Jawan Jyoti and concentric memorial walls where the names of fallen personnel are permanently engraved. (JKNS)
