Baramulla Police Debunks Rumours of Army Casualties at Asha Post, Warns Against Fake News

Says No Army Personnel Injured; Legal Action to Follow Against Those Spreading False Information

Srinagar, June 27 (JKNS): Baramulla Police on Saturday dismissed as “completely false and baseless” reports circulating on social media claiming that Army personnel were injured at Asha Post in the Gulmarg sector, urging the public to rely only on official sources for authentic information.

Spokesperson in a statement issued as per news agency JKNS, It has come to the notice of Police Baramulla that false and unsubstantiated information is being circulated alleging that Army personnel have sustained injuries at Asha Post.

It is hereby clarified that the said information is completely false, baseless and devoid of any factual basis. No Army personnel have sustained any injuries at Asha Post, it reads.

The dissemination of inaccurate and unverified information has the potential to cause unnecessary concern, create confusion among the public and adversely affect public order. Citizens are advised to rely only on information issued through official channels, statement reads.

Police Baramulla is taking cognizance of the matter and any person found responsible for creating or disseminating false information with the intention of misleading the public or disturbing peace shall be dealt with strictly under the relevant provisions of law, it reads.

Police Baramulla remains committed to maintaining public peace, ensuring transparency and disseminating accurate and timely information, it reads.

Police spokesperson said that the statement was issued in the interest of public peace and maintenance of law and order. (JKNS)
