Establishment of Translation Department in J&K a historic Decision: Dr Darakhshan Andrabi

Demands overhaul of J&K Cultural Academy at the earliest

BJP Spokesperson and Chairperson Waqf Development Committee of Ministry of Minority Affairs (Govt of India) has hailed the decision of establishment of a full-fledged Translation Department in the Civil Secretariat by LG administration. Dr Andrabi said that after the inclusion of regional languages in the Official Languages category in the UT, the Translation Bureau was the need of the hour and the Honourable Lieutenant Governor had kept his promise. She said that all long pending demands of the people are being fulfilled for the first time after 1947 in J&K. She said that the Translation Bureau will work as the bridge between many linguistic domains within J&K. “J&K working systems are undergoing the process of overhaul and the restructuring of the system is in the interest of the people of J&K. Merger of many departments, revival of many ailing units, re-structuring of many old, defunct or badly managed organisations and departments is on and slowly we are reaching to the perfect state of democratic functioning in J&K,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi. She requested the Lieutenant Governor to begin the process of re-structuring of the onetime premier Art, Culture & Languages Academy which is presently reduced to a small PR Institute. “The Academy has also suffered for last two decades because of political rot of J&K and it needs a complete overhaul so that it works like an institution,” said Dr Andrabi. She expressed her hope that the LG is very well aware of the situation and he will soon address to the issue.
