Srinagar, July 10 (JKNS): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Dhiraj Seth on Thursday concluded his maiden three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir after assuming office, reviewing the security situation and anti-infiltration measures along the Line of Control (LoC) in the border districts of Poonch, Rajouri and Sunderbani while directing troops to remain mission-focused and operationally agile.

According to the Indian Army as per news agency JKNS, the COAS visited forward areas under the White Knight Corps and was briefed on the evolving security environment, operational deployments, surveillance architecture, field innovations and integrated operational preparedness along the LoC.

During the visit, General Seth also assessed the progress of infrastructure development and reviewed the Army’s initiatives aimed at empowering border communities under various people-centric programmes in India’s first villages.

The Army Chief commended troops for their operational excellence, professionalism and unwavering commitment, urging them to continue striving for excellence while remaining prepared to meet emerging security challenges.

Official sources said the Anti-Infiltration Grid remained a key focus during the review, with discussions centred on maintaining zero infiltration along the LoC.

The Army was informed that infiltration attempts sponsored from across the border have largely been foiled through coordinated surveillance and operational preparedness, although Pakistan continues to position terrorists close to the LoC to exploit any opportunity for infiltration.

General Seth had arrived in Jammu and Kashmir on July 7, where he reviewed the security situation at the 15 Corps Headquarters in Srinagar. During his visit, he also called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

On the second day of his visit, the Army Chief reviewed the operational preparedness at the Northern Command Headquarters in Udhampur and the 16 Corps Headquarters at Nagrota, where senior commanders briefed him on the prevailing security situation across the Jammu region and the preparedness of troops to effectively respond to evolving threats.

The visit assumes significance as it comes amid heightened security arrangements across Jammu and Kashmir during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, with security forces maintaining a high state of alert along the Line of Control and hinterland.

General Dhiraj Seth assumed charge as the Chief of Army Staff on June 30, 2026.

His visit follows the recent tour of Chief of Defence Staff General N.S. Raja Subramani, who also reviewed the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, including the Srinagar Corps, Northern Command, Nagrota Corps and forward areas along the LoC. (JKNS)
