Srinagar, July 10 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday said the National Conference (NC) is awaiting official permission to hold its proposed July 20 protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, alleging that attempts are being made to sabotage the programme by overlapping it with other events.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the unveiling of the Kashmir Marathon 2026 merchandise, Omar, as per news agency JKNS, said the party has been trying to secure permission for the Delhi programme for the past several days.

“We have been trying to get permission for the last four to five days. Others managed to get permission within 24 hours, but we are still waiting,” he said.

The Chief Minister alleged that certain elements were attempting to disrupt the National Conference’s plans.

“Some people are trying to sabotage our programme. They changed their dates and overlapped them with ours,” Omar said.

He said the National Conference would hold a party programme on July 11, where several political issues, including the party’s stand on statehood, would be discussed.

“I am not going to convert today’s event into a National Conference press conference. Tomorrow’s programme will answer many of the questions being asked today. If anything remains unanswered, I will address it during my visit to Jammu on July 12,” he said. (JKNS)
