Jammu, July 21 (JKNS): Alert Border Security Force (BSF) troops foiled an infiltration attempt along the International Border (IB) in Jammu’s Khour sector during the intervening night of July 20 and 21 by apprehending a Pakistani national who allegedly crossed into Indian territory, officials said.
Official sources told news agency JKNS, BSF troops deployed at BOP Malabela under 134 Battalion BSF, falling under the jurisdiction of Police Post Pargwal and Police Station Khour, noticed suspicious movement of a man attempting to infiltrate from the Pakistan side into the Indian side of the International Border.
The sentry on duty challenged the intruder and warned him to stop. However, he ignored repeated warnings and continued moving forward, following which BSF personnel swiftly apprehended him and took him into custody at BOP Malabela for questioning.
During preliminary interrogation, the intruder identified himself as Mohammad Rafiq alias Kala (53), son of Mohammad Safiq, a resident of Village Pindi, Pakistan.
Officials said the apprehended man claimed that he had travelled from Village Looni in Pakistan and was allegedly proceeding towards Village Jung to meet his sister, who is married and resides there.
During the search, BSF recovered a Pakistani National Identity Card, spectacles, cigarette packets, a lighter, tobacco, cake, mango biscuits, chocolates, a nail cutter and a wallet from his possession.
The apprehended Pakistani national remains in BSF custody, while further questioning and legal formalities are underway. (JKNS)
