Drass, July 26 (JKNS): Chief of Army Staff General Dhiraj Seth on Sunday paid heartfelt tributes to the martyrs of the 1999 Kargil War, reaffirming the Indian Army’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding the nation and declaring that the Tricolour would continue to fly even higher in the years ahead.

 

Addressing the media at the Kargil War Memorial in Drass on the occasion of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas, General Seth, as per news agency JKNS, said the anniversary fills every soldier with renewed energy, pride and determination.

 

“On the 27th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas, I feel a new energy and a new sense of pride. I bow to our brave martyrs and also pay my respects to their families, whose sacrifices remain an enduring source of inspiration for the nation,” he said.

 

The Army Chief said the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the commemorative event would serve as a significant source of motivation for the Indian Army in the years to come.

 

General Seth also recalled an emotional poem written by a soldier from his own unit, saying it reflected the spirit of sacrifice and immortal legacy of those who laid down their lives in the service of the nation.

 

Assuring the nation of the Army’s steadfast resolve, he said, “The Indian Army is fully committed to the progress, security and sovereignty of the country. In the future, we will ensure that the national flag flies even higher.”

 

Concluding his address, the Army Chief raised the slogans of “Jai Hind” and “Jai Bharat,” honouring the courage and supreme sacrifice of the Kargil heroes. (JKNS)
