Kulgam, July 29 (JKNS): Security forces on Wednesday busted a terrorist hideout in the Sursunoo-Tantrypora orchard area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition during a joint search operation.
A senior J&K police officer told news agency JKNS that the Joint Search Operation (JSO) was carried out by a combined team of Jammu and Kashmir Police Kulgam, 34 Rashtriya Rifles (RR), and 18 Battalion CRPF in the orchard area of Sursunoo-Tantrypora, Sursunoo.
During the operation, the joint team unearthed a concealed terrorist hideout and recovered a substantial quantity of arms and ammunition, including AK-56 series weapons, pistols, UBGLs (Under Barrel Grenade Launchers), grenades, magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition, dealing a significant blow to terrorist infrastructure in the area, officer said.
Officer said the recovery is a major operational success and is expected to help thwart potential terrorist activities in the region.
Further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the ownership and intended use of the recovered arms and ammunition. (JKNS)
