Rajouri, Aug 4 (JKNS): Continuing its commitment to nurturing sporting talent and promoting youth engagement across the Union Territory, the Jammu & Kashmir Sports Council organised Special Summer Activities under its flagship “My Youth My Pride” (2026–27) initiative at Army Goodwill Public School, Rajouri.
The programme was organised under the guidance of Ms. Nuzhat Gul, Secretary, J&K Sports Council, and the supervision of Bashir Ahmed Bakshi, District Sports Officer, Jammu, with the objective of encouraging sports participation among youth, particularly in remote and border areas, while fostering discipline, confidence, and a healthy lifestyle.
The event was graced by Principal Gurnam Kour of Army Goodwill Public School, Rajouri, as the Chief Guest. Addressing the participants, she appreciated the efforts of the J&K Sports Council in taking quality sports programmes to the grassroots and motivating young students to actively participate in sporting activities.
More than 150 young athletes, including both boys and girls, enthusiastically participated in Tug of War and Arm Wrestling competitions. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from the local community, with over 300 spectators cheering the participants and creating an energetic sporting atmosphere.
The competitions showcased the enthusiasm, strength, and determination of the young participants and reflected the growing sports culture in Rajouri. The programme also served as a platform to identify emerging talent and inspire youth to adopt sports as a way of life.
The event was organised by Shabir Hussain Chouhan, Assistant Manager, Sports Stadium Rajouri, with the support of Farhat Jahangir (Volleyball Coach), Gurjot Singh (Table Tennis Coach), and Pram Chand (Ground In-charge), who ensured the smooth conduct of the competitions.
The J&K Sports Council remains committed to expanding the reach of the “My Youth My Pride” initiative by organising similar activities across the Union Territory, providing young athletes with opportunities to develop their sporting abilities while promoting fitness, teamwork, and national integration.
