Pattan, Aug 6 (JKNS): In a major burglary, unidentified thieves allegedly broke through the wall of Malik Copper House in Hyderbeigh Main Market of Pattan, Baramulla district, and decamped with copper utensils and other valuables worth nearly ₹30 lakh during the intervening night.
According to the shop owner, Suhail Malik, son of Shakeel Malik and a resident of Singhpora, Pattan, the burglars gained entry by breaking the shop wall. The stolen items included around 20 copper samovars, with the total loss estimated at approximately ₹30 lakh.
Soon after the incident was reported, a police team reached the spot and inspected the scene. A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team also visited the shop to examine the evidence. Police have launched an investigation and initiated efforts to trace those involved.
Local traders expressed concern over the incident, stating that two to three thefts had previously taken place in the same market. They urged the police to thoroughly investigate both the latest burglary and the earlier cases, and to arrest those responsible at the earliest to restore confidence among the business community.
