Shopiab, Aug 13 (JKNS): In a spirited run-up to Independence Day 2026, a Full Dress Rehearsal was held today at the Parade Ground District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian, showcasing the preparedness, discipline and coordination of all participating contingents.
Shri Dr. Zakir Hussain-JKAS, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shopian, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, accompanied by Addl. SP Shopian Shri Rameez Rashid Bhat-JKPS. The Chief Guest unfurled the National Flag and took the salute at an impressive March Past commanded by DySP (Prob.) Shri Talat Mehmood-JKPS. The March Past featured contingents from District Police Shopian, including men and women personnel, CRPF, Home Guard, Forest Protection Force, NCC Cadets and students from various schools across the district.
The ceremony was further enlivened by vibrant cultural performances by school students, reflecting the rich traditions, cultural diversity and patriotic spirit of Shopian. The performances added colour and enthusiasm to the proceedings while highlighting the unifying spirit of Independence Day.
Senior officers from the Police and Civil Administration attended the rehearsal and appreciated the meticulous arrangements and coordinated efforts of all participating departments.
The successful rehearsal reflected the strong inter-departmental coordination, dedication and patriotic spirit that will underpin the grand Independence Day 2026 celebrations in Shopian.
