Kulgam, Aug 15 (JKNS): The 80th Independence day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor across the district Kulgam.
The main function was held at DPL Kulgam wherein Chief guest; Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shri Shahzad Alam-IAS along with Senior Superintendent of Police Kulgam Anayat Ali Chowdhary-IPS inspected the parade, complimented the participants for their discipline, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute of the ceremonial parade.
The event witnessed large participation from civil society members, senior officers of Police, CAPF and district administration.
The parade was commanded by DySP (prob) Shri Dheeraj Shavan-JKPS, consisting the continents of District Police, Women police, CRPF, HG, ditrict police band, NCC cadets and students of various educational institutions participated in the impressive march past.
Besides, Students from various educational institutes presented scintillating colourful cultural programmes featuring patriotic and cultural themes that instilled a sense of patriotism and pride. Officers/officials from district administration, police, civilians and students who showed exemplary performance in duty, academics and sports were felicitated with certificates and mementos.
Keeping in view the present security scenerio, elaborate security arrangements were made by district police Kulgam along with other security agencies. (JKNS)
